My First Harley...... a 1970 Sportster.
No front breaks and a kick start. Yeah, NO BUTTON.. ewwwwww
I have to admit......... JR was a good man. He gave
me my first Harley.
He passed away a couple of years ago.
If it wasn't for him, I would have, probably, never learned to ride.
Rest in Peace, my friend.
One day in 1980, JR and I were at the Drag Races at Fremont Raceway in
Fremont, California and he looks over at me as says: "Do you want to
learn how to ride?" I looked back at him and said "YESSSS!"
He took me to the other side of the race track to a grassy field and showed me
how to operate the thing (the bike pictured below) and I started riding.
"Piece of Cake" as the expression goes. Been riding ever
since. The sporty was his bike and he won a car from Ford Motor Company
and he traded in for the money and bought a Shovelhead. He then gave me
the sporty. Thus, I became a "BIKERETTE" :-)
The photos pictured here are in the parking lot of a bar and restaurant I used to work at in Milpitas, California. Everyone was gathering to go the Hanford Run which is put on by the Modified Motorcycle Association. The date of this Run and picture was April 30, 1981.
I hadn't rode the bike on the street yet and asked JR if I
could ride it around the parking lot.
A bit wobbly, I rode round and round and round. hahahahha
Here I am on my Harley posing right before a Bike Run.
Those decals on my gas tank are beer decals.... hahahahaha
I think it was Lone Star Beer or something like that.
