Harley-Davidson's Continued.... Page 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 PLEASE CLICK ON THE SMALL PICTURES TO MAKE THEM LARGE. Thursday, August 28th, 2003 We got up, did the three S's and got on the road. First we were on a mission to get our first pin. The booklet we received with our patches and laminated tickets contained a coupon for a pin at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) for the 100th Anniversary of the Association and Harley Davidson combined. This place was approximately a 65 mile ride from Milwaukee. It was a beautiful day for a ride. Below, you can see part of the building in the background.
Inside is a very large display of Aircraft and Aircraft
parts and clothing, etc. that was worn in that era.
Here is another plane with an older Harley Davidson in front of it.
Next, we are boarding a shuttle to go across a landing field for the vintage aircraft to have a bite to eat and then explore the several hangars which house several more older aircraft. It is a miracle that they even got some of these off the ground.
Next is the nice people that took the picture of us. These people had traveled from Pennsylvania to Montana, Wyoming, and all over the place before they arrived here for the H. D. Birthday Celebration. You can click on all these pictures for larger versions.
Here are some planes that were available for rides. They are quite old but still in good running condition.
This is an old wooden plane that is not quite all together.
This is one of the first gas powered lawn mowers that was in one of the hangars.
Along with plane rides, you could also take a helicopter ride.
There were also plane rides for small children. Here we are leaving the EAA...
NEXT.................. We left the EAA and headed for Pilgrim Road where the
Harley Davidson Plant was. We got there too late in the day for a tour so
we bought a Tee Shirt. Some kind soul took our picture there.
Headed back to the bike, we prepare to go DOWNTOWN to the SUMMERFEST GROUNDS.
Riding towards the SUMMERFEST grounds, we are just in time for the Rush hour traffic.
I just loved this sign. Harley Davidson had all kinds
of signs all over the place. RIDE SAVE
