Harley-Davidson's
100th
Birthday Party

Here I go again on another of my Excellent Adventures.... This one has to take the "Cake", literally!!!

I was upset that I had to choose to leave old "Daisy" (my 72 shovelhead) home but I thought it would be best if Jim & I were to have any chance at having an 'incident free' vacation trip.  His bike is a lot newer as it is a 95 Evo Tour Classic.

So anyway, we get all packed (I packed enough clothes for 2 weeks on that poor motorcycle.  Not to mention the customary 3 pairs of shoes for me and 2 pairs for him.  Brought 3 cameras, 2 rain suits, jackets, party information packets, first aid kit, emergency lights, big purse, and many more items that I just might need.  It's a woman thing.

August 27th, 2003

We head out towards Interstate 90 and off we go.  First we go to Peoria to visit my parents for a few days

Of course someone wants his picture taken on the bike (my grand nephew, Brian and my niece, Janet)

and then off to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the Harley-Davidson 100th Birthday Celebration,

stopping to gas up here and there....
Gas prices soared for the holiday weekend.  It was disgusting how the gas station owners were allowed to do that.

Off we go again....
The closer we got to Milwaukee this is the greeting we got... The overpasses were loaded with people waiting and watching for the bikers to pass under so they could wave at them.

We waved back...

Here is a couple we rode along side of for awhile..

Finally, we see the sign.....
MILWAUKEE
YES!!!!!!  We are almost there....

All along the way we would see bikes parked along side the road or under an underpass.  They were not particularly doing anything but resting or just watching the bikes, also.

More people waving....

In Milwaukee, we had to go past the Harley Davidson plant to get to Millis Transfer to meet Bob who asked us to stay at his house while we were there.

When we got to the Truck terminals for Millis Transfer, Inc. (Jim works for them), we waited for his friend Bob

to get off work and take us to his house where we were invited to stay for the duration.  We met his wife, Susan and their two kids.  What a nice family!  They set up their popup camper for us which had only been used once.  It was brand new and had two king sized beds and stoves inside & outside, refrigerator, table and benches, outdoor shower.  It even had a bay window in the kitchen area.

They opened their home to us so we could take showers, watch t.v., use the computer, whatever....
They were wonderful!
