Harley-Davidson's Continued.... Page 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 PLEASE CLICK ON THE SMALL PICTURES TO MAKE THEM LARGE. Saturday, August 30th, 2003 and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ME!!! Yah, what a great day to spend my birthday!! Watching a 10,000 bike parade of Harleys. Bob, Susan, their children Daniel & Jennifer, Jim & I, Jan & Andy all met on Blue Mound Road and found a spot to watch the motorcycle parade.
You can see people have already started lining up along the street. They roped places off the night before all along the parade route.
We were all hungry and you can see Bob munching on a hotdog (on the left). The bikes you see are not in the parade but they are looking for a place to park so they can see the parade. That's Andy in the foreground.
Here is Jim and I. A couple of them got up so we
stole their seats for awhile.
Next, you can see Bob and Susan taking their seats... The
kids decided to sit on the ground so we could have their seats. We all get
comfortable so we can watch the parade.
I just had to take a picture of this little boy. He was adorable and he was being so good.
Here they come... headed by some of the Tractor Trailer
rigs.... As the parade starts, you can see the people moving in closer and closer. It finally got to the point that our chairs were of no use to us except to rest our feet once in awhile. The crowd pushed forward so much that we had to stand to see the parade. The people were at least 3 deep in front of our chairs. We thought we had it made... hahahhahahhah NOT! Browse thru the pictures and you just may see yourself if you were in the parade. As you have probably already guessed, we were not picked to be in the parade. It was a random selection of people. There were an awfully lot of people from Wisconsin but there were bikes from all over the world.
Don't have the foggiest idea who is in the cars and trucks .....
Here's Bob with a newspaper he bought. He gave it to me because it contained articles about the whole event. This young man was doing his part to celebrate by holding up his sign for the riders to see. These ladies came out to enjoy all the bikes.
Everyone loves a parade. Here is the traditional 'RAT BIKE'
Notice how the path for the bikes is getting narrower and narrower. The cops had to walk up and down the street to push the crowd back so that the bikes could go 2 by 2. At the rate of 1 bike at a time, this parade would have lasted for hours. As it was, it lasted for about 2-1/2 hours.
Click the links below to see a couple of small movie clips of the parade... The end of the parade is near. More tractor trailers.. Of Course The Fire Department...
and The Rescue Squad... And more Police not necessarily from Wisconsin. The parade is finished and the crowd is breaking up. Lots of trash to pick up by the city.
